MCC are custodians for MCG, Melbourne’s pre-eminent sporting and event facility that hosts international sporting competitions and artists to sell-out crowds.
Revenite has assisted MCC with their Data Strategy including their Advanced Analytics and Governance Operations. Given our experience across the entire Microsoft data estate we facilitated discussions with key Microsoft resources spanning research and development topics and ensuring that business cases across the data space show demonstrable value and ROI.
MCC faced several operational challenges around data integration and reporting including increasing pressure around event forecasting which determines operational and logistical plans for catering, staffing, logistics, suppliers, security and corporate suites.
The existing approach towards forecasting was heavily manual intensive, difficult to manage and maintain, and required significant data manipulation. Forecast accuracy was also highly variable and difficult to rely upon for many events.
Revenite were engaged to review and update the organisations approach towards Information and Data, perform a desktop review of leading vendors solutions and to architect a data management solution for implementation.
Revenite completed a Data Strategy that articulated a roadmap of modernisation activities, establishment of a data governance model and finalised the business case to support the next which was the Implementation and Deployment of a Data Warehouse Platform(carried out by Revenite) which enabled real time and batch data integration providing key KPI’s in real time and post event analytics.
The data strategy and roadmap advised on building a modern Lambda architecture in Microsoft Azure. Revenite provided a team which designed, developed and deployed the modern data warehouse BI solution which included; Lambda (real time and batch) data integration utilising Azure Data Factory, Event Hub and Stream Analytics into a SQL PaaS database and also provided Power BI Reporting in both a web and mobile device portal which presented real time event analytics around items sales in outlets around the MCG and basket analysis post-match events. With this platform business users can respond to changes quickly and no longer have to apply manual processes around analysing key systems and spreadsheets to understand what is going on.
